Referrals, Co-Counsel Arrangements & Trial Support
Although they have only been partners for a few years, Lowell Miller and Craig Borgen have been providing high quality legal representation to people who have been seriously injured for more than 20 years. Through the years, Lowell’s and Craig’s reputations as fierce and relentless trial attorneys and advocates who seek justice for their clients have flourished. As a result, we are honored to receive referrals of cases from other lawyers who don’t handle personal injury matters at all or who don’t practice in New Jersey or New York.
We are also proud to partner with any law firm that has a pending case that they can’t settle and which must go to trial so that the client receives the fair compensation they deserve.
Our firm is glad to serve in this capacity or accept case referrals as best suits the needs of the lawyer and client.Whether the case is sent to us to handle completely or to partner with you, rest assured that every client will be treated with the respect that they deserve. We maintain an open communication policy with all of our clients and are open and honest with every client we represent. You will also be kept in the loop on the cases you refer to us every step of the way so that you can maintain your relationship with your clients while the cases are pending.
Co-Counsel Arrangements& Trial Support
For lawyers that require our assistance but desire to maintain an active presence in the case or lawsuit, we welcome the opportunity to co-counsel with other lawyers and law firms to deliver effective results for our mutual clients. We are also humbled and honored that other lawyers bring us on board solely to take their cases to trial.
If you are co-counsel or trial counsel for a case, we urge you to contact us. We have the experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to pursue positive results for you and your clients. Together we will ensure that your clients receive full and fair compensation that they deserve.
Since Craig Borgen is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, we are able to share fees whether or not you provided any services to the client.
BENEFIT FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF A FIRM WITH A NJ CERTIFIED CIVIL TRIAL ATTORNEY
To become a New Jersey Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a lawyer must complete a rigorous certification program organized by the New Jersey Supreme Court. The program, its examinations, and high standards are meant to highlight attorneys who demonstrate superior civil trial practice knowledge and abilities. Attorneys who earn this prestigious certification must also be in good standing with the New Jersey bar for five or more years. Due to the strict prerequisites, it is estimated that less than 3% of actively practicing attorneys in New Jersey have earned this honor.
DIVISION OF FEES FOR REFERRED CASES
Under New Jersey’s Rules of Court – R. 1:39-6(d) — certified civil trial attorneys who accept a referred case from another attorney may divide a fee with the referring attorney without regard to services performed or responsibility assumed by the referring attorney.
